The 4th generation cellular technology (LTE) is currently being rolled out in North America and Europe. As new application scenarios for cellular are arising every year it turns out that major challenges are not addressed within LTE yet. In particular for a new mix of QoS requirements, unheard data rates as well as a new level of heterogeneity of network architecture. Therefore, new concepts need to be researched, which will be sketched within this talk.
